A Little Concerned

DH came home today with some news. His boss casually told him to finish up all his projects by Friday. Now this may not seem that big a deal on the surface. Perhaps they just want to wrap up loose ends before the weekend. I wouldn't be so concerned if it weren't for the fact that DH's probationary period is supposed to end on Friday.

I'm trying not to stress until I'm given a reason to stress. We have enough savings to last us for a month, maybe two. And I'm sure family would help us if we needed it. I'm just worried about the hubby. He has had nothing but positive feedback from his team and I know that he is good at his job. But DH mentioned they've lost some sales recently and it's possible they can't afford him anymore. It'd still be a slam for him if it really happens. He's never been let go before and I worry about how it will affect his self-esteem. He's been mentioning he feels like a loser lately and I just wish there was something I could do to make it better. I told him I would help him beef up his resume and search for jobs online. And I assured him we would survive no matter what. But I don't know what else to say or do to comfort him until we know for sure.

I've even toyed with the idea that maybe he is just being paranoid. But he said he just has a feeling. His instincts are honing in on something that doesn't smell right. And, well, you know what they say about instinct. It's usually right. Not always but usually.

D-Day is in T minus 2 days. Which also happens to be my Blogoversary. Let's hope I have some good news to share.

Poor hubby. I hate when stuff like that happens. :( Big hugs to him. Maybe he just wants him to have it all wrapped up so that it looks good for his probationary review? They did that to my DH. Scared him to death. Hugs!

I hope DH's instincts are wrong. If they're not, try turning it into something positive (easier said than done I know) like plan a little vacay or seek out an even better job. Best wishes...

I will definitely be hoping for good things for you for Friday. Hopefully the worry is unjustified. However, if something does happen, all you can do is what you are doing. . . love and support your husband. It will help the most.

There is nothing worse than gnawing uncertainty about future employment.

I hope that your DH keeps his job, and happy blogaversary in advance :)

I hope it works out for him. Like Barb said, we tell all our staff to have things in good order as they get near the end of their probation....so they look good! Hopefully that's all it is

How awful to have that hanging over your heads. Hoping for only good news.

The not knowing is the worst part. I hope both of you are doing OK.

I'll keep you in my prayers that it isn't true and that even if a door is closed another opens quickly.

I hope the instincts are wrong!! I'm going through my husband's lay off right now and it isn't fun. I hope his boss meant nothing with his wording. Please keep us posted!

O no!!! That sucks. :-( Both my husband and I work in the internet which is relentless in its expansion/cut backs so we have been through layoffs several times. Its never fun and really can do a number on ones self esteem. I speak from experience when I say that the only thing you can really do is be completely convinced that you guys will be fine. That this is not the end of the world. And that you still love him and you're marriage means far more to you then any job. That's all you can do and it wont seem like much but trust me. It is.

I will hold out alllllll hopes for Friday

Wow, I'd be nervous too - hopefully it doesn't mean anything except a deadline - or a promotion!

Work stress is horrible. Sometime I am grateful I have to got to work so I can "leave" my other stresses behind for a while. Work stress never leaves though.

Hoping for the best on Friday.

So sorry to hear about your stress with DH's job. We don't need anymore stress in our life - IF is hard enough. Hope its nothing.

I, too, hope your husband's worries are for naught and that he gets good news instead of what he's dreading.
