Everybody Poops

Except for me, apparently. I haven't pooped in over 4 days. The Colace hasn't even been able to save me from the wrath of the constipation wench.

I'm fearful. With the quantity of food I've been consuming lately, I'm afraid I'm now carrying twins. Anything else I eat is just going to build and build until it is laying in my throat. And this may be damn near impossible but I'm scared that if I have to push hard, I might just push Sunshine out alongside of it. Gross imagery but I can't say it hasn't crossed my mind.

Just a recap of the food I've eaten today:

  • Cookies 'n Cream poptarts
  • Activia peach yogurt
  • Corn muffin (a BIG one)
  • Tuna fish sandwich (chunk light so no worries)
  • Small bag of Lay's potato chips
  • More than a handful of jelly beans
  • .68 lb container of creamed spinach

This list (A) does not include dinner which will most likely be another 2-3 items and (B) does not include the previous 4 days of pigginess.

If constant eating doesn't provide relief, the next stop is Shoppers for a Fleet enema. And, boy, I do NOT want to go there.

I'm so feeling your pain and I'm not even pg. :) I feel extra bloated and just heavy because I can't seem to umm, "offload".

Have you tried these foods? http://www.kraftfoods.com/liveactivefoods/

I got some cheese yesterday and nothing exciting so far, but it is really yummy! :)

I find that a lot of Kashi's products help in that dept as they have that seven whole grain formula. GL!

i feel your pain!!! When I was pregnant with Emma, I would go a full 7 days before I was able to "drop the kids off at the pool". I know how uncomfortable you are!! One thing that helped me was Benefiber. I would sprinkle it over my cereal in the morning and it really helped. It doesn't have a gritty texture and you can't taste it at all and its perfectly safe during pregnancy as per my docs. Drink alot of water too...hopefully this helps!!

Look into Colace.... It certainly makes life easier for me. I don't know if it'll help you go more often, but it sure makes it easier to go, period. But boy do I feel your pain. :(

(And the pigginess, too!)

I am so sorry that you are having to deal with the 'not going', and I sincerely hope you are saved from the enema!!!

Grapefruit and fruit juice always helped me.

My prenatal had a stool softner too, you may want to check with your OB to see if that is an option.

Ah, constipation. Battling with that myself today.

Looking at what you've eaten today, I'd say you might want to try eating some more fiber...might help.

Hope everything "works itself out" soon! ;-)

I went a week when I first got my positive. Only way I can manage it is to eat a ton (and I mean alot) of dried prunes and then lots of veggies and prunes. This has the nasty side effect of making me fart worse than my husband, something I am not proud of, but at least I'm somewhat regular

Sorry, it is so not fun

Darn elusive poo! I hate it when that happens.
I eat a bowl of regular old Fiber One cereal with a banana every morning and it has never failed since I've started. Not the most fabulous tasting stuff in the world, but I am the biggest proponent of it's work.
Wishing you a speedy "recovery" of sorts from your situation. :)

I don't have any brilliant advice...but do stay away from the BIG corn muffins! I know corn doesn't digest well and if I were stopped up, I'd probably avoid it. Good luck to you! Stick with the colace-after my surgery I found it took a couple days worth for relief.

where the hell is the fruit in your diet?

bananas and dairy stop you up but prunes. pears, plums and peaches will get ya moving again

You'd have to look up to see if there's any risks but whenever I'm bunged up, I eat 3 or 4 vitamin c and it does the trick. It's magic.

Oy! I hope you feel relief soon - very soon!

May I suggest All Bran crackers? They help me along when I need them (granted, your prob sounds a wee bit intense - so sorry!)

The only thing that has worked for me is organic raisin bran. I'm not sure why, but it did the trick.

I'm with you though! Constipation is tough. :)

I am so glad that you posted this! Because I am having the exact same problem.

One of my pregnant friends gave me a suggestion and I am IMPATIENTLY waiting for my OB's office to open so that I can employ it. Apparently, there is a prenatal vitamin with a stool softener in it. When I find out the name, I'll pass it on.

Good luck getting things moving!

I've been suffering as well. I won't go for a few days, then for a few days I can't stop.
There is no balance at all.

And I swear, I eat more fiber and I feel WORSE, not better.

One day this week I was literally moaning in pain. I told my husband I felt like I had poo backed up into my lungs. EVERYTHING hurt.

You really don't appreciate pooping until you can't.

Hope you're feeling better soon!
