Update: It's Official!

I GOT THE JOB!!!! My official newfound title will be "Senior Media Planner/Buyer". How awesome is that? "Senior"? What did I do to deserve this title? The salary is exactly on point and I just couldn't be happier. I will get quarterly bonus performance reviews, 10 days vacation, and 4 personal days. My mind has been wandering in a million different directions tonight ever since I found out. I am scared yet excited, nervous yet anxious. Strung out to say the least - I don't see how I'm going to sleep tonight.

I keep thinking about breaking the news to my current job. I have learned so much here and am eternally grateful but I know I must move on. I owe it to myself to use the skills and education I've earned to grow and prosper. I just feel bad because I will leave behind friends, clients, and contacts I've fostered over the past 2.5 years. I know I'm not irreplaceable but I know that my leaving will cause my work to be dumped on someone else. My coworkers are also my friends so it will be hard to leave them all behind. I will miss our early morning conversations about American Idol and our lunches together. I will have to develop relationships all over again, which makes me happy and sad at the same time. I know I can keep in touch via email but it just isn't the same as working with everyone everyday. I know everyone's personality and style and now I am venturing into the unknown.

I'm also unsure about my start date. Two weeks from Monday will be April 16. Should I start right after my last day or should I take another week off to mentally prepare and relax before the new position? One side of me thinks I should just jump right in and show them I can be flexible. The other part of me says that I should take some time for myself to de-stress before entering a more challenging position. I have not yet decided what to do but maybe a good night's sleep is all I need.

It has been an eventful couple of days to see the least. I am so happy that things have reached full circle and our bad luck is gone. Our future is shaping itself right before our eyes and it is beautiful. I can't wait to see how things play out.

Congrautlations! That's great news!

If y'all can afford it, I absolutely recommend taking a couple of weeks off before starting the new job. It's so rare as an adult to get that kind of time off, without work piling up on your desk while you're gone.
