Waiting to Exhale

***If you are looking for the book tour Q&A, please see the post below.***

Beta at 24dpo = 8,449 (YAY!!!)

P4 = 19 (BOO!!!)

Doubling time = 1.81 days, or 43.67 hours

Again, the chart for you visual learners:

Now instructed to take 2 suppositories of Prometrium per day. Hopefully, that will do the trick. I am trying not to freak out since 19 is really just a smidge below what they like to see (20). But you still want to hear that things are perfect - any deviation from the words "all looks good" sends me into a tailspin. And the fact that it dropped also makes me a bit nervous. WTF happened?! I've been taking those things religiously at the same time everyday. I don't know. I just pray that our little Sunshine can hold on.

Our first ultrasound will be next Tuesday at 930am. They will also do more bloodwork - to check on the progesterone, I assume. I'm thinking of just taking the day off of work. I would rather just come home and relax after the appointment, whether good news or bad news. I wish I could take off this whole entire week but, contrary to popular belief, I do actually have work to do.

I'm waiting for that moment when I can finally exhale. I'm sick of living in a state of perpetual fear.

I think that there is still plenty reason to hope. The numbers are doubling, a positive sign.

Hugs, thoughts, and prayers are with you and sunshine!

I think your numbers look good too. I wanted to tell you last time, but things looked so great I didn't want to put a damper.

My RE told me that since I was taking suppositories you couldn't really count on the blood work to tell you appropriately how much is in your system since it wasn't be administered that way. So most likely more that that qualitative amount is going to the right place...and the time mine was dropping....it was dropping big. I really think it looks great.

Good luck to you on Tuesday.

Woo Hoooooo! I was waiting all freakin' day, too! Your u/s will be a day after mine, yay :O).

Hopefully your P4 will perk up.. I've also been taking the magic vajayjay pills and so far I've been in the high 20's. At least they're doing something.

Wow, your numbers look fabulous. And work always seems to get in the way of more important things!

Good luck at the scan!

Fantastic beta!! And M is right, when taking them vaginally (the fun way) your # doesn't always go up since it stays localized, not necessarily in your bloodstream.

And doesn't it just suck that we can't take off a week of work for our mental health? What I wouldn't give to be independently wealthy

p4 wavers alittle from week to week .. I think those numbers are VERY respectable .. I do understand being worried though. As much as i KNOW what you mean about taking a week of, i hope that work provides your mind with some other work related thoughts - even if they are only 10-15 mins at the time. That is a 10-15 mental break! Sending up good vibes for the lil sunshine

It is normal for progesterone to fluctuate a bit. I think your numbers are fine, *normal* even, but I understand that you want *perfect*.

Besides, a pessary works locally, and not so much gets into the blood to be picked up by a blood test.

Your betas are lovely, you know :)

Those numbers look great. I wish I could comfort you with some solid information on the P4 numbers; I can just say that my RE considers the "OK" cut off to be 15, not 20. And I know you want to exhale! I know that won't happen completely right now no matter what the numbers are showing, so I'm wishing you at least moments, or hours, or days, of calm exhalation (with the sharp intakes of breath being rare to nonexistent!)

i'm still praying for you and your sticky bean :)

Still going in the right direction!

Yay! Yay! Yay! I'm just so thrilled for you. If you are really worried about the progesterone, have your RE switch you to PIO shots. They aren't much fun, but they sure do send your progesterone numbers skyrocketing.

I'm sending thousands of hugs and happy thoughts your way!

Yay for good beta numbers!! I'm sorry your progesterone isn't what you'd hope, but I'm sure the progesterone pills will do the trick. Big hugs.

I'm hoping for all the best for you! I know you'd feel a lot better if your Progesterone were 20, but really, that's not very off from 19, is it? I'm no doctor, but I imagine statistically, they're about the same. Good luck and try to take it easy and not worry (though that's impossible)! I know how horrible this time is!

From here - things look good as good can be, but I know to well how your mind can get wrapped around little things when its going on in your own body...

For what its worth, in one of my cycles the nurse told me she's seen early pregnancies succeed with progesterone numbers as low as 5 - and you're way above that!

Sending all sorts of love and good thoughts your way...

I don't know much about prog numbers, but your beta is frikkin fantastic. With that so high, I am sure you have good things in the future. Wishing you lots of luck for your ultrasound.

A fantastic beta. And remember--progesterone in the blood can still be low but the uterus getting enough progesterone if you use suppositories. Because the progesterone goes directly to where it is needed rather than being metabolized and carried through the body, etc. Does that make any sense?
